  1. Tanka is a Japanese form that was invented in the seventh century. Tanka though similar to Haiku, has its differences. Haiku is an objective and non-opinionated form of expression, whereas Tanka is very subjective (meaning you can add your opinion). Tanka began as a way for nobles to challenge each other in competitions and also couples to share with each other in gratitude.
