E.Q. How do I write an explication essay that will prove I have read Sailing Alone Around the Room, while showing that I have a thorough understanding of how to analyze a poem?
Here is the plan today:
Period 1
1. Checking in- How did Wednesday go?
2. Workshopping of poetry exercise from last class.
3. Contest updates- Who is planning to apply to Young Arts? We need to get everything organized for that! The deadline is 10/18 (the last day of MP1!)
4. Continuing discussion about listening to poetry.
5. If time allows, look at the poem of the week.
Period 2
1. Pass back work
2. Progress reports
3. Go over Explication Essay Guidelines and deadlines
4. "Circle of Love" time: Thank you to Darren for bringing in treats!
Homework: Read the next section of Collins, work on getting portfolios/contest pieces organized, and start to develop the thesis for your paper. Stay organized! The marking period will close quickly!
